Definition: mod·er·ate: not expensive : reasonable or low in price
Here is how I define a mid-level or moderately priced restaurant. It seems Zagat tends to rate places on price range and categorize them as such Very Expensive , Expensive, Moderate, Inexpensive so I have chosen to also use moderate as the key tempurature gauge.
I think a mid-level or moderately priced restaurant should have dinner entrees from anywhere between say $15-20 and a couple should be able to get in and out for just under $100 with an appetizer, decent bottle of wine and 2 dinner entrees.
I would also include some bar and grille type places in this category especially some of the nicer local gastropubs opening up in Greater Boston these days. For example in West Newton you have The Local, Paddy's, and West Street Bar and Grille. In my hometown of H2OTown, they recently opened Comfort, another great mid level restaurant.
